Cavalier King Charles Spaniel: temperament, care and good with kids

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is a small, affectionate companion with a calm, cuddly nature. They don't need extreme exercise, just lots of closeness — an ideal apartment dog.
Temperament
They're gentle, friendly and extremely people-oriented. They dislike being alone and are happiest right beside their family. They're usually welcoming to strangers and other dogs.
Good with children
★★★★★
They suit children very well thanks to their calm, cuddly nature. Because of their small size, supervise contact with very young children so no one accidentally hurts them.
Care & upkeep
The silky coat needs brushing two to three times a week and ear care. The breed has inherited tendencies toward heart and neurological conditions — choose a dog from a responsible breeder.
Exercise & daily routine
Short walks and play at home are enough, around 30–60 minutes a day. They're a calm dog suitable even for less active households and seniors.
Can you handle the daily care?
TestDog simulates the real routine of caring for a virtual dog — feeding in set windows and walks tracked by your pedometer. Try the responsibility for real before you get a Cavalier or any other breed.
